December's Food Celebration

This month's food celebration is rather simple. I didn't have the energy to try to do a lot. I made most of these things for yesterday's Christmas Day meal with my friend. It was a delightful time. Eating good food and talking. Opening a few simple gifts under the tree and in the stockings and talking some more.

I saw this marinated cheese recipe and thought it sounded good. It is very simple and easy to make except the cream cheese was a bit of a mess and was kind of crumbly. The vinegar gave it a bit of a weird taste but it was still good.

I had to make some bread for toasted cheese sandwiches. I wanted to make the recipe below but it felt to complicated and I would have had to buy things that I don't usually buy to make it so I decided to just use up the cheddar slices I already had in the fridge and it was good...

This recipe I wanted to try using just potatoes but then I didn't have the energy. Some of the ingredients would have been quite hard to find, I'm afraid, which is why I was planning to use potatoes. I still want to make it some time because it sounds good and I do enjoy mashed potatoes, especially when it's got cream cheese in it...

This salad turned out okay. It seems like it's missing something, probably because I didn't have mayonnaise to add to the dressing.

I made this upside down pear cake a few days ago. I didn't have ginger so I added some allspice instead. It was absolutely delicious! And would have paired perfectly with vanilla ice cream...

For a drink I would have loved to try my hand at making some eggnog but it felt too complicated at this time to try it, but here is the recipe if you would like to check it out...

Instead I made some white hot chocolate. I had a block of white chocolate so I chopped up 3 sections into tiny pieces and added it to the hot milk, stirring till it was all melted. Then I added a little vanilla. It was the first time I ever made it and it was actually good. I'm sorry I don't have a photo but here is the recipe I followed:

None of this is anything fancy but maybe someone will be inspired to try a new recipe after reading this. You might find your new favorite food...

Thanks for reading!🤍
